GUEST BLOG - Little Dreams Sleep Consultant; Lucy Murray

When did you start the company?

I completed by training in 2022 after a long career in Higher Education. I was looking for a change and sleep consultancy was an obvious choice for so many reasons. I was able to be more flexible with my working hours (I have 3 children), feel like I was making a difference and also I really love sleep!

Which areas you can cover?

I cover most of Essex, however I also work with families virtually all over the UK. This involves zoom calls, messages and phone calls. Local families often choose a virtual option, so families have complete flexibility with how we work together.

Do you have children of your own?

Yes! And they were all terrible sleepers, I wish I had known what I know now, 9 years ago! I have three children aged 9, 7 and 3. They are all completely different, so we have a real mix of personalities and the house is always noisy!

What inspires you in your work?

Being able to make a real difference to families especially knowing first-hand how tough parenting can be with sleep deprivation.

What is your favourite part about your job?

This is such a difficult question – all of it! I love meeting parents who are really struggling and knowing that within a few days of implementing our plans, they will start to see a real difference. Often they are hesitant that it will actually work, especially as they have often tried strategies already, however with support and consistency, we can absolutely make their lives more restful and help them enjoy parenting more.

What challenges do you find hard?

The honest truth – social media! However, it is exciting to be learning something new!

What makes you different to others in your industry?

I am a franchisee for Little Dreams, the first sleep consultancy in the UK to run as a franchise. This means that I own my business, however I am still part of something bigger which is really important to me. It means that families working with me get a personal approach, however it is backed up by a company who have worked with over 800 families to date.
