Covid 19 Safety Precautions

Despite Covid 19 restrictions lifting, whilst case numbers are so high, I will continue to be taking the following precautions.  I therefore politely ask for customer’s co-operation in this.

  • Castings are carried out in my studio and adjoining room in order to maintain strict social distancing of over 2m throughout.
  • All equipment will be thoroughly sanitised in between castings.
  • Customers are required to sanitise their hands using the gel provided before entering the studio.
  • Customers are required to wear masks throughout the casting (I will be wearing a mask too).
  • Payment by card preferred.
  • The turnaround time for castings is 4-5 weeks.
  • Completed orders are to be collected from the studio.
  • Booking is required for all castings.

Is it safe to have a 3D cast made?

There is no minimum age, I have cast babies as young as a few days old, right up to toddlers and older children. There is no age limit either, grandparents are very keen to have their hands casts with their precious grandchild.

Is it safe to have a 3D cast made?

Yes, your baby/child will have their hands or feet wrapped in a tepid mousse mixture which then becomes firm (but flexible) after a minute or two to allow me to slide out the hand/foot – which will come out clean.

Is it safe to have an outprint made?

Yes, the baby/child’s hand or foot is pressed into a soft terracotta clay. It is pain free and takes literally seconds to do.

How long does an appointment take?

3D casts take approximately 1 minute for each hand/foot. For outprints it literally takes seconds for each one. I usually allocate half an hour for appointments, to allow time for choosing colours / frame types.

Does my baby have to be asleep and can I feed while the cast is being taken?

Your baby doesn’t have to stay asleep, the mixture and technique we use allows them to be able to wriggle a little during the process. I have a box of distraction toys at hand should it be necessary! Some parents feed their baby’s while it’s being done which sometimes helps.

Do you keep the casts / can I have extra ones done at a later date using the same mould?

No, I do not keep the moulds therefore so if extra casts are required at a later date you will need to make another appointment.
